‘The Princess Bride’ is one of my favorite movies. It’s probably one of your favorites, too. I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love the Rob Reiner mid-80s Fred Savage vehicle.
Anyway, one of the many cast members that makes the film so loveable is Andre the Giant, the famous pro wrestler. While Rusimoff delivers his lines in an amateurish method at best, he still manages to come off as one of the highlights of the film.
While I’m not a fan of pro wrestling these days and haven’t been since the late 80s, I still fondly remember Andre the Giant’s heyday, as it was must-see TV anytime he took the mat back then, no matter his opponent (or the fact that the whole thing was staged).
Nowadays, Andre is as well known for his off-the-mat legends, which are documented in this piece.
